어떤 사람들이 생각하기를
하나님의 사랑과 축복의 언약인 십계명이 이것 저것 등 무엇을 하지 말라 는 등의 엄한 계율인 것으로 생각하기도 할 수 있다. 그러나 십계명은 사랑하는 자기 백성에게 주신 사랑과 축복의 언약이라는 것이다.
다음의 제 2계명에서 그것을 넘치게 알 수 있다. 제 2계명에는 우상 숭배를 금한 것을 볼 수 있는데 그것도 살아계신 창조주 하나님의 자기 언약의 백성을 사랑하고 복을 주시기 위한 언약 관계를 갖기를 원하시는 사랑의 다른 표시라고 할 것이다. 하나님과 자기 백성의 사랑과 축복의 언약을 자기 백성을 깨어버린다면 그 언약이 깨어져 버리는 것이다. 물론 사람의 연약함으로 그 언약을 지키지 못할 수도 있지만 불완전하고 연약한 그 백성들을 위하여 그 방편까지 마련해 주시기는 하였다는 것이다.
십계명 제 2계명
(출20:4-6)
4 너를 위하여 새긴 우상을 만들지 말고 또 위로 하늘에 있는 것이나 아래로 땅에 있는 것이나 땅 아래 물 속에 있는 것의 아무 형상이든지 만들지 말며
5 그것들에게 절하지 말며 그것들을 섬기지 말라 나 여호와 너의 하나님은 질투하는 하나님인즉 나를 미워하는 자의 죄를 갚되 아비로부터 아들에게로 삼 사대까지 이르게 하거니와
6 나를 사랑하고 내 계명을 지키는 자에게는 천대까지 은혜를 베푸느니라
4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.'
1. 하나님을 사랑하고 그의 계명을 지키는 자에게는 천대까지 은혜를 베푸신다고 약속하셨다.
여기에서 천이란 숫자 천 이상의 거의 무한대를 말하는 것일 것이다.
하나님께서 창조하시고 경영하시는 대자연을 보면 천대까지만이 아니라 천가지 천배 그 이상의 은혜를 주시는 것을 알 수 있다.
역사에서도 그 실례를 볼 수 있다. 솔로몬은 왕이 되어 그 직을 감당하기가 너무 어려운 것을 알며 무엇보다 하나님을 사랑하여 일천번제를, 주 여호와 하나님을 사랑하는 표현인 일천번제를 드리므로 하나님을 감동케 하였다. 하나님께서 너무나 감동을 받아 꿈에 나타나셔서 네게 무엇을 줄꼬 물었을 때 솔로몬은 지혜를 구하므로 하나님을 또 한번 크게 감동케하여 전무후무한 지혜와 구하지 아니한 부과 영광 (both richse and honor)까지 덤으로 약속받은 것으로 이 제 2계명을 증명하신 것이다. (왕상3:3-15)

하나님께서는 자기 백성을 질투하시기까지 하실 정도로 사랑하신다고 하셨다. 그러하므로 하나님께서는 사람들이 만들 신상에 절하고 사랑하여 예배하는 모습을 허망하게 보시기 그렇게 사랑하기에 사람인 만든 우상을 사랑하여 절하고 예배하는 것을 금하신 것이다.
성경 신구약에서 사람이 신상을 만들어 그것을 사랑하여 절하며 예배하는 것을 가장 혐오하시고 마침내 심판하시기 까지 하셨다. 성경을 읽으면서 왜 하나님께서는 그렇게 우상을 만들어 그 신상에 예배하는 것을 경고하시고 혐오하시고 마침내 심판까지 하시는가 놀랄 정도이다. 그것은 하나님의 그 백성에 대한 사랑의 다른 표현 질투하시기까지 하시는 사랑을 알 때 이해할 수 있을 것이다
.
다음의 내용은 조금 아니 대단히 길지만 구약에서 우상들에 관한 몇 부분을 보자.
그리고 왜 그렇게 우상의 신상을 만들어 사랑하여 예배하는 것을 경고하시는가를 보자.
1. 모세가 사랑과 축복의 언약 돌판을 가지고 참으로 감격적인 마음을 가지고 내려오는 중에
산 아래의 백성들은 모세가 사십 일 동안 보이지 아니하니 불안과 두려움이 금송아지 우상을 만들고 그것이 이스라엘을 인도한 신이라고 하며 춤추며 노래하며 섬기고 있었던 것이다. 바로 그 사랑과 축복의 언약을 언약 첫째 둘째 계명을 안다면 얼마나 기가 막힐 일인가,모세가 볼 때 얼마나 기가막힌 일인가.
출32:
1 백성이 모세가 산에서 내려옴이 더딤을 보고 모여 아론에게 이르러 가로되 일어나라 우리를 인도할 신을 우리를 위하여 만들라
이 모세 곧 우리를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 사람은 어찌 되었는지 알지 못함이니라
2 아론이 그들에게 이르되 너희 아내와 자녀의 귀의 금고리를 빼어 내게로 가져오라
3 모든 백성이 그 귀에서 금고리를 빼어 아론에게로 가져오매
4 아론이 그들의 손에서 그 고리를 받아 부어서 각도로 새겨 송아지 형상을 만드니 그들이 말하되 이스라엘아 이는 너희를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 너희 신이로다 하는지라
5 아론이 보고 그 앞에 단을 쌓고 이에 공포하여 가로되 내일은 여호와의 절일이니라 하니
6 이튿날에 그들이 일찌기 일어나 번제를 드리며 화목제를 드리고 앉아서 먹고 마시며 일어나서 뛰놀더라
1 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."
2 Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me."
3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.
4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."
5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD."
6 So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.
7 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 내려가라 네가 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 네 백성이 부패하였도다
8 그들이 내가 그들에게 명한 길을 속히 떠나 자기를 위하여 송아지를 부어 만들고 그것을 숭배하며 그것에게 희생을 드리며 말하기를 이스라엘아 이는 너희를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 너희 신이라 하였도다
9 여호와께서 또 모세에게 이르시되 내가 이 백성을 보니 목이 곧은 백성이로다
10 그런즉 나대로 하게 하라 내가 그들에게 진노하여 그들을 진멸하고 너로 큰 나라가 되게 하리라
11 모세가 그 하나님 여호와께 구하여 가로되 여호와여 어찌하여 그 큰 권능과 강한 손으로 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내신 주의 백성에게 진노하시나이까
12 어찌하여 애굽 사람으로 이르기를 여호와가 화를 내려 그 백성을 산에서 죽이고 지면에서 진멸하려고 인도하여 내었다 하게 하려 하시나이까 주의 맹렬한 노를 그치시고 뜻을 돌이키사 주의 백성에게 이 화를 내리지 마옵소서
7 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt.
8 They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, 'These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.'
9 "I have seen these people," the LORD said to Moses, "and they are a stiff-necked people.
10 Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation."
11 But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God. "O LORD," he said, "why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?
12 Why should the Egyptians say, 'It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth'? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people.
13 주의 종 아브라함과 이삭과 이스라엘을 기억하소서 주께서 주를 가리켜 그들에게 맹세하여 이르시기를 내가 너희 자손을 하늘의 별처럼 많게 하고 나의 허락한 이 온 땅을 너희의 자손에게 주어 영영한 기업이 되게 하리라 하셨나이다
14 여호와께서 뜻을 돌이키사 말씀하신 화를 그 백성에게 내리지 아니하시니라
15 모세가 돌이켜 산에서 내려오는데 증거의 두 판이 그 손에 있고 그 판의 양면 이편 저편에 글자가 있으니
13 Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: 'I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.'"
14 Then the LORD relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.
15 Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands. They were inscribed on both sides, front and back.
16 그 판은 하나님이 만드신 것이요 글자는 하나님이 쓰셔서 판에 새기신 것이더라
16 The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.
17 여호수아가 백성의 떠듦을 듣고 모세에게 말하되 진중에서 싸우는 소리가 나나이다
18 모세가 가로되 이는 승전가도 아니요 패하여 부르짖는 소리도 아니라 나의 듣기에는 노래하는 소리로다 하고
19 진에 가까이 이르러 송아지와 그 춤추는 것을 보고 대노하여 손에서 그 판들을 산 아래로 던져 깨뜨리니라
20 모세가 그들의 만든 송아지를 가져 불살라 부수어 가루를 만들어 물에 뿌려 이스라엘 자손에게 마시우니라
21 모세가 아론에게 이르되 이 백성이 네게 어떻게 하였기에 네가 그들로 중죄에 빠지게 하였느뇨
22 아론이 가로되 내 주여 노하지 마소서 이 백성의 악함을 당신이 아나이다
17 When Joshua heard the noise of the people shouting, he said to Moses, "There is the sound of war in the camp."
18 Moses replied: "It is not the sound of victory, it is not the sound of defeat; it is the sound of singing that I hear."
19 When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.
20 And he took the calf they had made and burned it in the fire; then he ground it to powder, scattered it on the water and made the Israelites drink it.
21 He said to Aaron, "What did these people do to you, that you led them into such great sin?"
22 "Do not be angry, my lord," Aaron answered. "You know how prone these people are to evil.
23 그들이 내게 말하기를 우리를 위하여 우리를 인도할 신을 만들라
이 모세 곧 우리를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 사람은 어찌 되었는지 알 수 없노라 하기에
24 내가 그들에게 이르기를 금이 있는 자는 빼어 내라 한즉 그들이 그것을 내게로 가져왔기로 내가 불에 던졌더니 이 송아지가 나왔나이다
25 모세가 본즉 백성이 방자하니 이는 아론이 그들로 방자하게 하여 원수에게 조롱거리가 되게 하였음이라
23 They said to me, 'Make us gods who will go before us.
As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him.'
24 So I told them, 'Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.' Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!"
25 Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become a laughingstock to their enemies.
1. 단3:1-7
( 사람이 만든 다른 신들을 살아 역사하는 신으로 알고 사랑하여 예배하지 말라는 것이다.
그런데 느브갓네살 왕은 참으로 어마 어마한 신상을 만들고 왕과 그 당시 고관대작과 백성들을 모이게하여 그 신상에 절하며 예배하고 있다.)
1 느부갓네살 왕이 금으로 신상을 만들었으니 고는 육십 규빗이요 광은 여섯 규빗이라 그것을 바벨론 도의 두라 평지에 세웠더라
1 King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, ninety feet high and nine feet wide, and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon.
2 느부갓네살 왕이 보내어 방백과 수령과 도백과 재판관과 재무관과 모사와 법률사와 각 도 모든 관원을 자기 느부갓네살 왕의 세운 신상의 낙성 예식에 참집하게 하매
3 이에 방백과 수령과 도백과 재판관과 재무관과 모사와 법률사와 각 도 모든 관원이 느부갓네살 왕의 세운 신상의 낙성 예식에 참집하여 느부갓네살의 세운 신상 앞에 서니라 (* 제국의 왕 느브갓네살이 제국의 고관대작 다 모이게 하여 모여서,,)
2 He then summoned the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials to come to the dedication of the image he had set up.
3 So the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials assembled for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up, and they stood before it.
4 반포하는 자가 크게 외쳐 가로되 백성들과 나라들과 각 방언하는 자들아 왕이 너희 무리에게 명하시나니
5 너희는 나팔과 피리와 수금과 삼현금과 양금과 생황과 및 모든 악기 소리를 들을 때에 엎드리어 느부갓네살 왕의 세운 금신상에게 절하라
4 Then the herald loudly proclaimed, "This is what you are commanded to do, O peoples, nations and men of every language:
5 As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.
6 누구든지 엎드리어 절하지 아니하는 자는 즉시 극렬히 타는 풀무에 던져넣으리라 하매
7 모든 백성과 나라들과 각 방언하는 자들이 나팔과 피리와 수금과 삼현금과 양금과 및 모든 악기 소리를 듣자 곧 느부갓네살 왕의 세운 금신상에게 엎드리어 절하니라 (* 고관대작 뿐 아니라 이 악기들을 보라.)
6 Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace."
7 Therefore, as soon as they heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp and all kinds of music, all the peoples, nations and men of every language fell down and worshiped the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
8 그 때에 어떤 갈대아 사람들이 나아와 유다 사람들을 참소하니라
9 그들이 느부갓네살 왕에게 고하여 가로되 왕이여 만세수를 하옵소서
10 왕이여 왕이 명령을 내리사 무릇 사람마다 나팔과 피리와 수금과 삼현금과 양금과 생황과 및 모든 악기 소리를 듣거든 엎드리어 금신상에게 절할 것이라
11 누구든지 엎드리어 절하지 아니하는 자는 극렬히 타는 풀무 가운데 던져넣음을 당하리라 하지 아니하셨나이까
12 이제 몇 유다 사람 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고는 왕이 세워 바벨론 도를 다스리게 하신 자이어늘 왕이여 이 사람들이 왕을 높이지 아니하며 왕의 신들을 섬기지 아니하며 왕이 세우신 금신상에게 절하지 아니하나이다
8 At this time some astrologers came forward and denounced the Jews.
9 They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, "O king, live forever!
10 You have issued a decree, O king, that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold,
11 and that whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into a blazing furnace.
12 But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon--Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego--who pay no attention to you, O king. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up."
13 느부갓네살 왕이 노하고 분하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 끌어오라 명하매 드디어 그 사람들을 왕의 앞으로 끌어온지라
14 느부갓네살이 그들에게 물어 가로되 사드락, 메삭, 아벳느고야 너희가 내 신을 섬기지 아니하며 내가 세운 그 신상에게 절하지 아니하니 짐짓 그리하였느냐
13 Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king,
14 and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, "Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up?
15 이제라도 너희가 예비하였다가 언제든지 나팔과 피리와 수금과 삼현금과 양금과 생황과 및 모든 악기 소리를 듣거든 내가 만든 신상 앞에 엎드리어 절하면 좋거니와
너희가 만일 절하지 아니하면 즉시 너희를 극렬히 타는 풀무 가운데 던져넣을 것이니 능히 너희를 내 손에서 건져낼 신이 어떤 신이겠느냐
15 Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music,
if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?“
16 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고가 왕에게 대답하여 가로되 느부갓네살이여 우리가 이 일에 대하여 왕에게 대답할 필요가 없나이다
17 만일 그럴 것이면 왕이여 우리가 섬기는 우리 하나님이 우리를 극렬히 타는 풀무 가운데서 능히 건져내시겠고 왕의 손에서도 건져내시리이다
16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter.
17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king.
18 그리 아니하실지라도
왕이여 우리가 왕의 신들을 섬기지도 아니하고 왕의 세우신 금신상에게 절하지도 아니할 줄을 아옵소서
19 느부갓네살이 분이 가득하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 향하여 낯빛을 변하고 명하여 이르되 그 풀무를 뜨겁게 하기를 평일보다 칠 배나 뜨겁게 하라 하고
20 군대 중 용사 몇 사람을 명하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 결박하여 극렬히 타는 풀무 가운데 던지라 하니
21 이 사람들을 고의와 속옷과 겉옷과 별다른 옷을 입은 채 결박하여 극렬히 타는 풀무 가운데 던질 때에
22 왕의 명령이 엄하고 풀무가 심히 뜨거우므로 불꽃이 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 붙든 사람을 태워 죽였고
23 이 세 사람 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고는 결박된 채 극렬히 타는 풀무 가운데 떨어졌더라
18 But even if he does not,
we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."
19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual
20 and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace.
21 So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace.
22 The king's command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego,
23 and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.
24 때에 느부갓네살 왕이 놀라 급히 일어나서 모사들에게 물어 가로되 우리가 결박하여 불 가운데 던진 자는 세 사람이 아니었느냐 그들이 왕에게 대답하여 가로되 왕이여 옳소이다
25 왕이 또 말하여 가로되 내가 보니 결박되지 아니한 네 사람이 불 가운데로 다니는데 상하지도 아니하였고 그 넷째의 모양은 신들의 아들과 같도다 하고
24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, "Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?" They replied, "Certainly, O king."
25 He said, "Look! I
see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods."
26 느부갓네살이 극렬히 타는 풀무 아구 가까이 가서 불러 가로되 지극히 높으신 하나님의 종 사드락, 메삭, 아벳느고야 나와서 이리로 오라 하매 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고가 불 가운데서 나온지라
27 방백과 수령과 도백과 왕의 모사들이 모여 이 사람들을 본즉 불이 능히 그 몸을 해하지 못하였고 머리털도 그슬리지 아니하였고 고의 빛도 변하지 아니하였고 불탄 냄새도 없었더라
28 느부갓네살이 말하여 가로되 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고의 하나님을 찬송할지로다 그가 그 사자를 보내사 자기를 의뢰하고 그 몸을 버려서 왕의 명을 거역하고 그 하나님밖에는 다른 신을 섬기지 아니하며 그에게 절하지 아니한 종들을 구원하셨도다
26 Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!" So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire,
27 and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king's command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God
1. 다음은 무엇을 의미하는가,
29 그러므로 내가 이제 조서를 내리노니 각 백성과 각 나라와 각 방언하는 자가 무릇 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고의 하나님께 설만히 말하거든 그 몸을 쪼개고 그 집으로 거름터를 삼을지니 이는 이같이 사람을 구원할 다른 신이 없음이니라 하고
30 왕이 드디어 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 바벨론 도에서 더욱 높이니라
29 Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way."
30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
1. 이방나라 왕의 영원한 존재자 여호와 하나님 찬양 1
이러한 일들이 있을까, 이방나라 왕들이 누구를 이렇게 칭송하고 있는가, 이방나라의 왕들이 이렇게 자기 나라의 포로로 잡혀온 사람들이 믿는 그 하나님을 찬양한 이유가 무엇일까요, 이스라엘 유대가 포로로 잡혀간 나라에서 왕을 통해 이러한 일이 있었던 것이다. 이것은 사람이 만든 우상의 신상을 사랑하여 예배하는 것을 거부하는 신앙과 연관된 것이라는 것이다.
(단4:1-3)
1 느부갓네살 왕은 천하에 거하는 백성들과 나라들과 각 방언하는 자에게 조서하노라 원하노니 너희에게 많은 평강이 있을지어다
2 지극히 높으신 하나님이 내게 행하신 이적과 기사를 내가 알게 하기를 즐겨하노라
3 크도다 그 이적이여, 능하도다 그 기사여, 그 나라는 영원한 나라요 그 권병은 대대에 이르리로다
1 King Nebuchadnezzar, To the peoples, nations and men of every language, who live in all the world: May you prosper greatly!
2 It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me.
3 How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures from generation to generation.
1. 이방나라 왕의 찬양 2 - 이방 나라의 왕들이 이렇게 하나님을 높인 이유는 무엇인가,
이스라엘 유대가 포로로 잡혀간 그 나라에 있었던 일이다. 우상을 만들고 예배했던 그 왕의 신앙고백의 선언이다. 이스라엘 나라의 왕이 아니라 이방의 왕이 그 제국의 모든 나라들에게 조서을 내리고 선언하고 있는 것이다. 이러한 일이 과연 있을 수 있을까 하는 놀라운 일이다.

25 이에 다리오 왕이 온 땅에 있는 모든 백성과 나라들과 각 방언하는 자들에게 조서를 내려 가로되 원컨대 많은 평강이 너희에게 있을지어다
26 내가 이제 조서를 내리노라
내 나라 관할 아래 있는 사람들은 다 다니엘의 하나님 앞에서 떨며 두려워할지니
그는 사시는 하나님이시요 영원히 변치 않으실 자시며 그 나라는 망하지 아니할 것이요 그 권세는 무궁할 것이며
25 Then King Darius wrote to all the peoples, nations and men of every language throughout the land: "May you prosper greatly!
26 "I issue a decree
that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. "
For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end.
27 그는 구원도 하시며 건져내기도 하시며 하늘에서든지 땅에서든지 이적과 기사를 행하시는 자로서 다니엘을 구원하여 사자의 입에서 벗어나게 하셨음이니라 하였더라
27 He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions."
28 이 다니엘이 다리오 왕의 시대와 바사 사람 고레스 왕의 시대에 형통하였더라
28 So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

다른 사람들 ,, 절하였지만 신으로가 아니라 ,, 왕으로 이었을 것, 그럼에도 모르드개는 ,, 그러한 신앙에 그러한 응답이 있었다는 것이다. (에스더, 에 3:, 10: )
1. 다음을 읽고 왜 하나님께서 우상의 신상을 만들에 사랑하며 예배하는 것을 그렇게 경고하시는가,
다음을 읽어보고 그 답을 찾아보자.

그들이 하나님이 아닌 자로 나의 질투를 일으키며 그들의 허무한 것으로 나의 진노를 격발하였으니 나도 백성이 되지 아니한 자로 그들의 시기가 나게 하며 우준한 민족으로 그들의 분노를 격발하리로다
21 They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding.

여호와의 율례와 여호와께서 그 열조로 더불어 세우신 언약과 경계하신 말씀을 버리고 허무한 것을 좇아 허망하며 또 여호와께서 명하사 본받지 말라 하신 사면 이방 사람을 본받아
15 They rejected his decrees and the covenant he had made with their fathers and the warnings he had given them. They followed worthless idols and themselves became worthless. They imitated the nations around them although the LORD had ordered them, "Do not do as they do," and they did the things the LORD had forbidden them to do.

조각 신상을 섬기며 허무한 것으로 자긍하는 자는 다 수치를 당할 것이라 너희 신들아 여호와께 경배할지어다
7 All who worship images are put to shame, those who boast in idols--worship him, all you gods!
(사41:29)
과연 그들의 모든 행사는 공허하며 허무하며 그들의 부어 만든 우상은 바람이요 허탄한 것뿐이니라
29 See, they are all false! Their deeds amount to nothing; their images are but wind and confusion.

대저 내 백성은 나를 잊고 허무한 것에게 분향하거니와 이러한 것들은 그들로 그 길 곧 그 옛길에서 넘어지게 하며 곁길 곧 닦지 아니한 길로 행케 하여
15 Yet my people have forgotten me; they burn incense to worthless idols, which made them stumble in their ways and in the ancient paths. They made them walk in bypaths and on roads not built up.

6 "This is what the LORD says--Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.
44:9-11
9 우상을 만드는 자는 다 허망하도다 그들의 기뻐하는 우상은 무익한 것이어늘 그것의 증인들은 보지도 못하며 알지도 못하니 그러므로 수치를 당하리라
10 신상을 만들며 무익한 우상을 부어 만든 자가 누구뇨
11 보라 그 동류가 다 수치를 당할 것이라 그 장색들은 사람이라 그들이 다 모여 서서 두려워하며 함께 수치를 당할 것이니라
9 All who make idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind; they are ignorant, to their own shame.
10 Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit him nothing?
11 He and his kind will be put to shame; craftsmen are nothing but men. Let them all come together and take their stand; they will be brought down to terror and infamy.
12 철공은 철을 숯불에 불리고 메로 치고 강한 팔로 괄리므로 심지어 주려서 기력이 진하며 물을 마시지 아니하여 곤비하며
(* 괄리므로 ,, 이러한 단어는 누구도 쉽지 이해하기 힘드므로 잘 검증하여 개정할 수 있다. 그러나 지금의 개정 번역을 보면,,, 개역번역을 근거로 이러한 부분을 검토하여 대략 100 여 군데 개정하였다면 최상의 번역이 되었을 것이다. 다시 개역 번역판으로 돌아가는 것이 최상의 선택이라 할 것이다. 지금의 개정번역은 너무나 부족하고 부족하게 개정되었다. 참으로 ** 스럽고 ** 일이다. 그래도 다행인 것은 잘 번역되고 신뢰받는 영어성경을 같이 읽을 수 있다는 것이다. kj , niv 1984 번역은 가장 많이 읽히고 추천할 번역이라 할 것이다. )
13 목공은 줄을 늘여 재고 붓으로 긋고 대패로 밀고 정규로 그어 사람의 아름다움을 따라 인형을 새겨 집에 두게 하며
12 The blacksmith takes a tool and works with it in the coals; he shapes an idol with hammers, he forges it with the might of his arm. He gets hungry and loses his strength; he drinks no water and grows faint.
13 The carpenter measures with a line and makes an outline with a marker; he roughs it out with chisels and marks it with compasses. He shapes it in the form of man, of man in all his glory, that it may dwell in a shrine.
14 그는 혹 백향목을 베이며 혹 디르사나무와 상수리나무를 취하며 혹 삼림 중에 자기를 위하여 한 나무를 택하며 혹 나무를 심고 비에 자라게도 하나니
14 He cut down cedars, or perhaps took a cypress or oak. He let it grow among the trees of the forest, or planted a pine, and the rain made it grow.
15 무릇 이 나무는 사람이 화목을 삼는 것이어늘 그가 그것을 가지고 자기 몸을 더웁게도 하고 그것으로 불을 피워서 떡을 굽기도 하고 그것으로 신상을 만들어 숭배하며 우상을 만들고 그 앞에 부복하기도 하는구나
15 It is man's fuel for burning; some of it he takes and warms himself, he kindles a fire and bakes bread. But he also fashions a god and worships it; he makes an idol and bows down to it.
16 그 중에 얼마는 불사르고 얼마는 고기를 삶아 먹기도 하며 고기를 구워 배불리기도 하며 또 몸을 더웁게 하여 이르기를 아하 따뜻하다 내가 불을 보았구나 하면서 17 그 나머지로 신상 곧 자기의 우상을 만들고 그 앞에 부복하여 경배하며 그것에게 기도하여 이르기를 너는 나의 신이니 나를 구원하라 하는도다
16 Half of the wood he burns in the fire; over it he prepares his meal, he roasts his meat and eats his fill. He also warms himself and says, "Ah! I am warm; I see the fire."
17 From the rest he makes a god, his idol; he bows down to it and worships. He prays to it and says, "Save me; you are my god."
18 그들이 알지도 못하고 깨닫지도 못함은 그 눈이 가리워져서 보지 못하며 그 마음이 어두워져서 깨닫지 못함이라
18 They know nothing, they understand nothing; their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see, and their minds closed so they cannot understand.
19 마음에 생각도 없고 지식도 없고 총명도 없으므로 내가 그 나무의 얼마로 불을 사르고 그 숯불 위에 떡도 굽고 고기도 구워 먹었거늘 내가 어찌 그 나머지로 가증한 물건을 만들겠으며 내가 어찌 그 나무토막 앞에 굴복하리요 말하지 아니하니
20 그는 재를 먹고 미혹한 마음에 미혹되어서 스스로 그 영혼을 구원하지 못하며 나의 오른손에 거짓 것이 있지 아니하냐 하지도 못하느니라
21 야곱아 이스라엘아 이 일를 기억하라 너는 내 종이니라 내가 너를 지었으니 너는 내 종이니라 이스라엘아 너는 나의 잊음이 되지 아니하리라
19 No one stops to think, no one has the knowledge or understanding to say, "Half of it I used for fuel; I even baked bread over its coals, I roasted meat and I ate. Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?"
20 He feeds on ashes, a deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself, or say, "Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?"
21 "Remember these things, O Jacob, for you are my servant, O Israel.
I have made you, you are my servant; O Israel, I will not forget you.
