행 6장 초대 교회에서 최초로 일곱 집사를 세우다
1 그 때에 제자가 더 많아졌는데 헬라파 유대인들이 자기의 과부들이 그 매일 구제에 빠지므로 히브리파 사람을 원망한대
1 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.
(* 교회도 사람이 모이는 곳이고 여러 가지 문제가 있을 수 있다. 하나님께 예배를 드리고 복음을 전해야 하는 교회에 그 안에서 문제가 발생하며 서로 원망할 수 있는 일들이 생겼는데 그 문제를 지혜롭게 회복하고 사도들이 말씀을 전하는데 전무하는 일을 위해 지혜롭게 하였다. 사도들이 일곱집사를 세우고 사도들은 기도하고 말씀전하는 일에 전무하고 그 이외의 일들은 그들에게 맡기는 것이었다.)
2 열두 사도가 모든 제자를 불러 이르되 우리가 하나님의 말씀을 제쳐 놓고 공궤를 일삼는 것이 마땅치 아니하니
2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.
3 형제들아 너희 가운데서 성령과 지혜가 충만하여 칭찬 듣는 사람 일곱을 택하라 우리가 이 일을 저희 에게 맡기고
3 Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them
(* 사도들이 말씀 전하는 것을 전무하기 위해서 일곱집사를 세우게 되는 것이다. 그들에게 음식을 봉사하는 일을 맡기고 교회의 사도의 직무인 말씀 전하는 것을 전무하게 하도록 하였다.)
(* 관계대명사 who 의 선행사는 seven men 이다. 즉 who 이하가 seven men을 수식하고 있다.)
4 우리는 기도하는 것과 말씀 전하는 것을 전무하리라 하니
4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.“
(* 사도의 직무는 기도하는 것과 말씀 전하는 것을 전무하는 것임을 알 수 있고 그것에 전무하도록 집사들을 세우게 된 것이다.)
5 온 무리가 이 말을 기뻐하여 믿음과 성령이 충만한 사람 스데반과 또 빌립과 브로고로와 니가노르와 디몬과 바메나와 유대교에 입교한 안디옥 사람 니골라를 택하여
6 사도들 앞에 세우니 사도들이 기도하고 그들에게 안수하니라
5 This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism.
6 They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.
( * 일곱 집사는 안수집사라고도 할 수 있고 오늘날의 장로교 교회정치 제도에서는 장로라고도 할 수 있을 것이다.)
7 하나님의 말씀이 점점 왕성하여 예루살렘에 있는 제자의 수가 더 심히 많아지고 허다한 제사장의 무리도 이 도에 복종하니라
7 So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.
(* 이렇게 하여 교회가 해야 할 사도직의 직무를 잘 감당하여 말씀이 점점 왕성하였다는 것이다. 교회에 실제적으로 해야할 일이 많은데 말씀 전파를 위해서 일 것이다. 그런데 주객이 전도되어서는 적절하다 할 수 없을 것이다.)
8 스데반이 은혜와 권능이 충만하여 큰 기사와 표적을 민간에 행하니
8 Now Stephen, a man full of God's grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people.
(* 그럼에도 집사 스데반을 통해서도 은혜와 권능이 충만하여 큰 기사와 표적을 민간에게 해하였다는 것이다. 초대교회에서는 그리고 이방의 전도의 초기에 큰 기사와 표적이 많이 따랐다는 것을 볼 수 있다. 막16:15 절의 말씀이 분명하게 증명되는 것이다. 한국교회사에서도 초대교회에 큰 기사와 표적이 더 많은 것을 볼 수 있었다는 것이다.
어떤 직임자의 말에 따르면 예전에는 심령 부흥회 때 표적과 기사들을 지금에 비해 더 많이 보았다는 것이다.)

9 리버디노, 구레네인, 알렉산드리아인, 길리기아와 아시아에서 온 사람들의 회당이라는 각 회당에서 어떤 자들이 일어나 스데반으로 더불어 변론할새
10 스데반이 지혜와 성령으로 말함을 저희가 능히 당치 못하여
9 Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)--Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia and Asia. These men began to argue with Stephen,
10 but they could not stand up against his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke.
11 사람들을 가르쳐 말시키되 이 사람이 모세와 및 하나님을 모독하는 말 하는 것을 우리가 들었노라 하게 하고
11 Then they secretly persuaded some men to say, "We have heard Stephen speak words of blasphemy against Moses and against God."
12 백성과 장로와 서기관들을 충동시켜 와서 잡아가지고 공회에 이르러
13 거짓 증인들을 세우니 가로되 이 사람이 이 거룩한 곳과 율법을 거스려 말하기를 마지 아니하는도다
12 So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin.
13 They produced false witnesses, who testified, "This fellow never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law.

14 그의 말에 이 나사렛 예수가 이 곳을 헐고 또 모세가 우리에게 전하여 준 규례를 고치겠다 함을 우리가 들었노라 하거늘
14 For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs Moses handed down to us.“
(* heard 가 지각동사이므로 say 앞의 to 가 생략되어 원형동사가 왔다. 한 문장에 동사가 두 개가 올 수 없어 원래는 say 는 to say 이어야 했다. 그러나 본동사가 지각동사이므로 원형동사 say가 온 것이다. 그러므로 내용적으로는 to say 로 보아 목적격 보어가 된 것이다. 목적어와 목적보어는 한국어로 번역할 때 주어 + 동사 로 번역하는 것이 자연스러울 때가 있다고 한다. 즉 우리는 그가 말하는 것을 들었다, 들어왔다 로 말이다.)
15 공회 중에 앉은 사람들이 다 스데반을 주목하여 보니 그 얼굴이 천사의 얼굴과 같더라
15 All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
* 공회 중에 앉은 모든 사람들이 다 주의깊게, 자세하게, 유심히 바라보았는데 그의 얼굴이 천사의 얼굴과 같았더라고 하였다. 스데반은 어쩌면 자신의 순교를 예감하고 있었을 것인데, 왜 모든 사람이 스데반을 얼굴을 자세하게 바라보았는데 looked intently at Stephen 그의 얼굴이 천사의 얼굴과 같았을까요,,
