생태공동체운동본부 365일 생명살림기도 10월 17일 "생명의 강을 위하여(4대강 수질오염)"

아름다운 강을 창조하신 하나님! 아름다운 강을 창조하셔서 우리 인간과 동식물들이 어울려 번성하고 생육하기를 바라신 하나님의 뜻을 어기고 인간의 욕심과 교만으로 아름다운 강을 훼손하고 그 곳에 사는 동식물들을 죽인 저희의 죄를 고백하오니 용서하여 주옵소서.
하나님이 만드신 자연에는 다양하고 곡선이 대부분인데, 저희 인간은 편의를 위하여 직선화, 획일화하기를 좋아합니다. 아름다운 곡선의 강, 여울이 있고 모래톱이 있어서 물을 정화시키는 자정능력이 있는 강을 주님은 창조하셨습니다. 그리고 그 안에 수많은 다양한 생물들을 살게 하셨습니다. 그 좋은 강에 저희가 오.폐수를 흘려보내서 더럽게 하지만 지나치지만 않는다면 강은 자정작용을 통하여 오.폐수를 걸러냅니다.
그런데 당연히 오.폐수를 정화하여 강으로 보내야 하건만 인간의 어리석음과 오만은 자연정수기인 여울과 모래톱을 들어내고 흘러야 할 강을 막아 보를 세우면서 물을 깨끗하게 한다고 말합니다. 저희의 어리석음과 오만함을 용서하여 주소서. 여울과 모래톱을 들어내면서 주님이 사랑하는 생물들을 수없이 죽인 저희의 포악한 죄를 용서하옵소서.
저희가 곧 깨달아 주님의 창조질서에 순종하는 때, 다시 여울이 생기고 모래톱이 회복되는 때, 그리고 세운 보가 허물어질 때 수질은 좋아질 것입니다. 그 때까지 주님이 참아주시고 용서하여 주십시오.
저희에게 만물을 사랑의 마음을 주시어서 강처럼 겸손한 저희가 되게 하소서.
God, you who created the beautiful rivers! You created this beautiful world in which you set humankind together with flora and fauna to flourish and grow according to your plan. However, we humans infringed on God’s will by destroying the river in our greed and arrogance, and have killed the plants and animals dwelling in that place. We confess our sins before you, oh Lord! Please have mercy on us!
The beautiful nature created by God is diverse in shape and colour. However, we humans, for the sake of our convenience, like to straighten and standardize. Beautiful curves of rivers, you were created by God, the father of all life, with your rapids and sandy river banks that purify your waters on your own. The Creator himself put into your waters a diversity of life to live there. Even though we pollute this fine river’s waters with discharge sewage in a moderate amount the river is able to self-purify its waters.
However, we obviously do not only require purification of sewage from our rivers, but in our foolishness and arrogance we also destroy the natural purification function of the rivers by eliminating their rapids and sandy river banks and by interrupting the water flow of our rivers, claiming that by setting up weirs we could enhance the water's quality. Oh Lord! Please forgive us our foolishness and arrogance! Please forgive us our vicious sin of killing countless of your beloved creatures by destroying the rivers’ rapids and sandy river banks.
God, heavenly Father! We will soon open our eyes and return to obey the order of your creation, the rapids will appear again, the sandy riverbanks will be restored, the weirs with crumble and the water quality will once again be enhanced . Until then, oh Lord, please endure and forgive us! Please give us a mind that loves all life and make us humble like the river. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
