PROK COVID-19 Response and Church Guidelines

December 3, 2021

Administrative authorities have announced further COVID-19 social distancing restrictions due to the surge in COVID-19 infections and the Omicron variant for four weeks from December 6 to January 2. As such, the PROK general office has prepared these guidelines.

We hope that this will be an opportunity to build trust with the church by taking the initiative to comply with the guidelines.

Level 4 Social Distancing Guidelines - Seoul Metropolitan Area

  1. Within the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon), up to 50% capacity is allowed regardless of vaccination status, and there is no limit if all persons are fully vaccinated. If there are no seats, maintain a distance of 2 meters (at least 1 meter), one person per 4m2

  2. All worship participants and essential personnel must be fully vaccinated, including preachers, worship leaders, and media personnel.

  3. Masks must be worn during all hymns. Choirs and praise teams must wear masks and can only sing solo. However, if all choir and praise team members are fully vaccinated, they may sing as a group.

  4. Small gatherings such as Bible study, district meetings, missionary work, and planning meetings may be held in religious facilities with up to six fully vaccinated persons

  5. Religious events such as retreats, prayer meetings, and revival meetings are allowed with up to 99 persons regardless of vaccination status and up to 499 persons allowed if all participants are fully vaccinated. Please be mindful of current social distancing regulations.

  6. After worship, congregants, church leaders, and facilities staff are not permitted to gather and eat together in compliance with regulations.

  7. All participants in worship or other gatherings must wear masks, and temperatures should be checked for fever.

Guidelines for Outside the Metropolitan Area

  1. Outside the metropolitan area, up to 50% capacity is allowed regardless of vaccination status, and there is no limit if all persons are fully vaccinated.

  2. Small gatherings such as Bible study, district meetings, missionary work, and planning meetings may be held in religious facilities with up to eight fully vaccinated persons

  3. After worship, while congregants are not permitted to eat, church leaders and facilities staff may eat in compliance with regulations.
