Dear Shin Seung-Min
Re: Border clash
Greetings from Church of Scotland! I was alarmed to hear reports on the news this morning of border clashes between North and South Korea. The BBC report that two marines have been killed and others have been injured in what they describe as “one of the most serious clashes since the Korean War ended without a peace treaty in 1953.”
The loss of life is deeply regrettable and others will bear the scars of this attack. The Church of Scotland is concerned that tensions may escalate into further violence and prays for a peaceful resolution to this crisis and to the wider issues of peace and justice between North and South Korea.
We know about the churches’ commitment to peace on the Korean peninsula, the advocacy and peace work that has been done in Christ’s name over many years.
I would be happy to circulate any message you have through our own networks here in Scotland so that concerned Christians can be better informed about the situation.
Yours sincerely,
Sandy
