On January 18th 2014 we commemorated the 20thanniversary of the passing away of Pastor MOON Ik-hwan.
The celebrations included a worship service, in which the
family of the deceased was present (including his brother, who had already
impressed me several times, and his son, a successful actor in Korea); a visit
to the "Heroes’ Cemetery", where also the candidate for last year’s presidential
elections MOON Jae-In came; and a cultural festival, where despite a terrible icy
wind many visitors participated.
The PROK pastor was a leader in the democracy movement and
went to prison five times for – among other reasons - his unauthorized visits
North Korea.
One of his protest campaigns was trying to buy a ticket to Pyongyang
at different train stations, as can be seen in the following movie:
On Jan 27th 2014 we commemorated the 27thanniversary of the passing away of Pastor KIM Jae-Joon, whose idea of
contextual (rather than literal) interpretation of the Bible separated the PROK
from the PCK in 1953.
