Message of Solidarity from the World Council of Churches due to the record heavy rainfall in South Korea
Dear General Secretaries,
I write to you with great sadness after receiving news of the record heavy rainfall—the most in 115 years—that battered Seoul and elsewhere in the central and eastern regions in South Korea, and the ongoing news of the people who have perished and the many who have been injured.
This is indeed a great tragedy in a country that has been so blessed.
With our deepest sympathy, on behalf of the World Council of Churches, I offer prayers to the people and churches in Korea as well as our heartfelt condolences to all those who have lost family members and friends in this disaster.
We stand in solidarity with you and the people in South Korea, particularly those who are suffering today.
We pray for God’s healing grace and blessings upon churches’ efforts and initiatives to assist those in need.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca,
Acting General Secretary
