Lent DMZ Peace Pilgrimage
On February 27, the first steps for the Lent Peace Pilgrimage to the DMZ were started at Boreumdo Island in Seodo-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon. Forty-one participants from different parts of Korea, including Jeju, gathered to take a boat at dawn. The 155-mile DMZ pilgrimage begins at the western point of the Korean peninsula from Boreumdo Island and ends at the northeasternmost point at Goseong Unification Observatory.
In front of a more than 800-year-old ginkgo tree on Boreumdo island and while looking at the land of North Korea across the sea, participants prayed before starting the Lent DMZ Peace Pilgrimage. Rev. Kim Chan-soo (Chairperson of the Peace and Reconciliation Committee) and Rev. Kang Yeon-hong (PROK Moderator) shared a sermon to mark the beginning of the pilgrimage.
Please keep the participants in your prayer as they embark on this peace pilgrimage.
