On July 31, 2024, at around 2:00 AM, Ismail Haniyeh, the top leader of the Palestinian armed group Hamas, was assassinated while attending the Iranian President's inauguration. (BBC Korea News) This incident has brought the situation in the Middle East, where ceasefire negotiations were underway, to a critical state.
A letter was sent to all member denominations asking for their participation in prayers for a ceasefire and peace in the region, where the Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS) member denominations, the Lebanese Evangelical Church, and two educational institutions, Johann Ludwig Schneller School and Beirut Near East Theological Seminary, are located.
